Young Artist Competition – Wyoming Symphony Orchestra

Dear Music Educators:

We are looking forward to experiencing Wyoming’s young talent during the WSO’s Young Artist Competition!  The application deadline, November 8th, is approaching quickly.  Please let me know if you have any questions and whether or not you have students who plan to enter and what instrument they play? We hope to have a wide range of applicants from the four corners of Wyoming.

You can find information and the application materials at wyomingsymphony.org/young-artist-competition. This is a great opportunity for students to further their playing, build their resume and showcase their musical talents to a Wyoming audience.

To apply, students must either be born in Wyoming OR enrolled in a Wyoming high school or accredited homeschooling program or undergraduate student at a Wyoming college/university as of February 1, 2021. The applicant must perform one or more movements from a concerto (or a similar short work for solo instrument and orchestra) totaling eight to fifteen minutes in duration. The work must be the same work on the recording submitted as part of the application.

Applicants will be screened by Music Director Christopher Dragon, finalists will then perform at Casper College’s Wheeler Hall for three qualified judges. For more information and to access the rules, regulations, and application, visit wyomingsymphony.org/young-artist-competition. The deadline to apply is November 8, 2021 with the competition being held January 30, 2022. We cannot wait to once again showcase the incredible young musicians of our state.

Feel free to reach out to me at rebecca@wyomingsymphony.org with any questions.

Best,
