If you’re unfamiliar with them\, they are a Seattle-based indie/contemporary jazz vocal ensemble. They have won three Grammy awards in 2021\, 2024\, and 2025. Some of you may remember Amanda Taylor who conducted the WY All-State Jazz Choir a few years back and was a member of Groove for Thought. This year\, we are opening with a big band of the Wyoming Jazz Educators under the direction of Eric Richards and Frank Cook. It’s always fun to perform for (and hear performances of) our colleagues. DESCRIPTION:The University of Wyoming will be hosting the UW Jazz Festival on February 23rd\, 2026 in Laramie.  \nThey wanted to remind you that registration for the 2026 UWYO Jazz Festival is open! \n \nThis year’s festival is on Monday\, February 23rd and features an amazing lineup of adjudicators and guest artists including our headliner\, trombonist Michael Dease! \n \nSome highlights to look forward to:\n\n\nEach ensemble will get feedback and ratings from one of our outstanding adjudicators as well as an on-stage clinic followed by an off-stage workshop! \n\n\n \n\n\nThere will be a masterclass on every major instrument from 12:30-1:20! \n\n\n \n\n\nThe featured evening concert is now at 5:00pm! SUMMARY:Northwest College Jazz Festival March 2nd\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Northwest College Jazz Festival is a non-competitive performance opportunity for vocal and instrumental jazz groups at all levels of proficiency. High-quality assessment and instruction will be provided by respected jazz educators in a positive and constructive learning environment. This festival encourages young musicians and teachers to grow through camaraderie and musical exchange. The day includes a concert with our headlining performers (see below). \nThe fee for registration must be paid online. Please have a card ready to enter payment info while registering. Fees are:\n\n$300 – Jazz Bands/Jazz Choirs\n$200 – Jazz Combos\n\nEach registration includes:\na 20-minute performance slot followed by a 20-minute adjudication slot AND admission to the afternoon headliner concert! \nThe deadline to register is Monday\, February 16th\nBe sure to fill out both the Festival Registration AND the Band Setup Form or Vocal Setup Form for your group. Our stage/sound crew use the information on set up form to arrange the stage for your group and the adjudicators use it to select soloists.
