55th Annual Kinser Jazz Festival

Our headliners this year will be Grammy Award Winners Randy Brecker and Eric Marienthal with Kris Berg and the Metroplexity Big Band on Tuesday, February 15 at 7:00PM. With all the COVID craziness of the past year, we decided to hold the headliner concert in the Wheeler Concert Hall on the Casper College Campus. In the event tickets are fully sold before 2022, we will look into a larger venue. Tickets will be $25 for adults and $15 for students. 

 

Our adjudicators this year will be Groove for Thought’s Brennan Baglio; dean of the music school at Colorado State University (and he’s also Casper College Alumni) saxophonist, Dan Goble, and from Montana State University-Billings trombonist, John Roberts. Additionally, we will be hosting adjudicators from the Jazz At Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington program on Wednesday, February 16. We are strongly encouraging high school and college bands to sign up for spots on Wednesday (and register for EE, it’s free and you even get free music) and play at least one chart from the EE library, if that is a possibility. Other groups (junior high bands, high school and junior high choirs) are, of course, very welcome on Wednesday but encouraged to sign up for spots on Monday or Tuesday, if possible.

While COVID restrictions are quite a bit more relaxed now than they were last year, please be sure to check https://www.caspercollege.edu/coronavirus/ for the most up to date information. You and your students are very welcome to hang out all day and watch all the groups you can. You may wear a mask, if you like and there are plenty of places to wash hands and use hand sanitizer. Additionally, we will have a crew of volunteers cleaning after every group performs.
