Call for Webinar Proposals – NAfME

NAfME PDC Call for Webinar Proposals:
Teacher Self-Care, Engaging Student Teachers,
and the Changing Landscape of Music Education

NAfME’s Professional Development Committee (PDC) has identified three key issues for a call for webinar proposals. The PDC invites NAfME members to submit webinar proposals on one of the following topics:

  • Self-care for teachers – Key issues, especially among young teachers, include anxiety about teaching, depression, and the usual pressures of the first five years of teaching that can lead to teacher attrition, compounded by the pandemic.

  • Enging and involving student teachers – Key issues during this phase of the pandemic include research on motivation for the intern, power sharing between the intern and cooperating teacher, and lack of field experience for current student teachers, interns, and classroom teachers.

  • The changing landscape of music education due to COVID-19 – Key issues include addressing the adaptation of rehearsal and instructional strategies, modifying instrumentation/voicing, strengthening participation, considering performance/festival/competition expectations, and prioritizing flexibility in meeting the musical and social and emotional (SEL) needs of your students.

To support the PDC in providing timely programming for members, please submit your proposal no later than October 18. The PDC will review proposals received on an on-going basis.
