About the Clinician

David Saccardi has taught strings in Colorado for over ten years, and is currently the orchestra teacher at Loveland High School and Bill Reed Middle School in Loveland, CO. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and Performance from Colorado State University, and a Masters Degree in Music Education and String Pedagogy from the University of Michigan.  He currently provides string instruction to over 250 students in sixth through twelfth grade, and his groups consistently receive Superior ratings at festival performances.

Mr. Saccardi performs on double bass with the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra and maintains a private double bass studio in the Northern Colorado area. Many of his private students have been selected to participate in the Colorado Allstate Orchestra and have received performance scholarships to university music programs. He has previously served as Principal Bassist of the Cheyenne Symphony, and Assistant Principal Bassist with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra and the Steamboat Springs Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities with the Thompson School District, Mr. Saccardi has served on the faculty of Hummingbird Music Camp (NM) and the C*ASTA String Camp (CO). He is also an active adjudicator and clinician, having worked with orchestras from across Colorado, as well as groups from Wyoming, New Mexico, and Michigan.

Mr. Saccardi’s professional service has included time on the Colorado Music Educator’s Association Board of Directors, the Colorado Allstate Orchestra Board of Governors, and he was a founding member of the Colorado ASTA Large Group Festival. In 2016, Mr. Saccardi was nominated at the Thompson School District Teacher of the Year, and was also awarded the Exemplary Middle School and High School Orchestra Director Awards by the Colorado Chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association.

Mr. Saccardi lives in Loveland with his wife, Claire and their dog, Harper.  Together, they enjoy hiking, skiing, road trips, New Mexican food, dog parenting, and living the Colorado lifestyle.
